CSSD Supervisor

About the role

The CSSD Supervisor leads the Central Sterile Supply Department, ensuring that medical instruments and supplies are decontaminated, sterilized, and distributed efficiently to support surgical services. This position provides leadership, training, and quality oversight while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily workflow and staffing for decontamination, sterilization, and distribution processes.
• Monitor productivity, turnaround times, and inventory levels to meet surgical schedule demands.
• Coordinate with operating‑room schedulers, biomedical engineering, and infection‑control teams for instrument needs and equipment maintenance.
• Manage emergency and STAT requests, ensuring rapid response.
• Maintain accurate sterilization records, quality‑assurance documentation, and prepare performance reports.
• Lead staff training, competency assessments, and ensure certifications are up to date.
• Support external inspections, accreditation surveys, and participate in hospital committees.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science field with a CSSD‑related certification approved by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, or completion of a CSSD Technician Training Program.
• Minimum 5 years experience in sterile processing operations and 2–3 years supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.
• Valid registration with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties as a Specialist, plus BLS, MOH license and BICSL certification.
