Director, Federations Accounting, Financial Audit & Forensics

About the role

The Director will lead and oversee accounting, audit oversight, and forensic review activities across national sports federations. This senior position ensures transparency, accuracy, and financial integrity in line with SOPC’s governance expectations, acting as the primary financial governance partner for federations.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a unified accounting framework for federations, reviewing monthly and annual financial statements for accuracy and compliance.
• Monitor accounting entries, budgets, spending patterns, and financial controls to identify risks and inefficiencies.
• Lead planning and execution of financial audits, directing fieldwork, documentation, and evaluation of internal controls.
• Consolidate audit findings, highlight systemic issues, and provide insights to SOPC leadership.
• Direct forensic reviews and investigations into suspected fraud, misconduct, or financial irregularities.
• Develop evidence‑based reports to support decision‑making, disciplinary actions, and risk mitigation.
• Recommend and implement strengthened financial controls and process improvements.
• Serve as the main financial liaison between federations and SOPC, ensuring clear guidance and timely issue resolution.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in financial accounting, audit management, and forensic investigations, preferably within a sports or public sector environment.
• Strong knowledge of national and international financial reporting and auditing standards.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and coordinate with legal, governance, and procurement units.
• Excellent analytical skills with a focus on risk identification and mitigation.
