Director of Hardware Engineering

About the role

We are looking for a Director of Hardware Engineering to lead the development of the think AI Node line from concept to volume production. Based in Riyadh, you will own the complete hardware envelope—including thermal, electrical, mechanical, manufacturing and supply‑chain aspects—to enable high‑density compute in a compact form factor.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the hardware roadmap for the AI Node line, covering desk‑top to rack‑scale solutions.
• Lead thermal architecture design, including sealed‑loop liquid cooling, heat‑exchange paths, flow distribution and pressure monitoring.
• Set engineering standards for design reviews, simulation gates, thermal qualification, leak testing and supplier qualification.
• Oversee validation cycles, prototype reviews and failure‑analysis of field‑returned units.
• Build and grow a multidisciplinary team across thermal, electrical, mechanical, firmware and validation, hiring senior leaders as needed.
• Collaborate with software engineering on telemetry interfaces and integration with the ILM platform.

Required profile

• 10+ years of hardware engineering experience, including at least four years leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Proven track record taking hardware from concept through simulation, prototyping, qualification and high‑volume production.
• Deep expertise in at least two areas: high‑density accelerated compute, large‑scale liquid cooling, data‑centre hardware or HPC server architecture.
• Hands‑on “player‑coach” attitude, comfortable on the workshop floor, in supplier audits and at customer sites.
• Willingness to be based in Riyadh or relocate.

Required skills

• Liquid cooling (single‑ and two‑phase), heat‑transfer analysis, sealed‑loop design, manifold design, pump selection and redundancy.
• Multi‑kilowatt power delivery and electrical design.
• Mechanical chassis design, vibration analysis, sealing, manufacturability.
• Simulation tools such as Fluent, SolidWorks Flow, OpenFOAM.
• Cost engineering, supplier qualification, thermal management.
