Director of Stations – Driverless Rail Transit

About the role

The Director of Stations will lead the architectural, engineering and technical delivery of a network of driverless rail stations for a Grade of Automation 4 (GoA4) system in Saudi Arabia. Reporting to senior project leadership, you will be accountable for station technical integrity, passenger experience and integration with surrounding real‑estate developments.

Key responsibilities

• Define functional layouts, passenger flow, platform screen door integration and emergency egress for high‑capacity driverless stations.
• Coordinate complex MEP systems, tunnel ventilation, smoke extraction and environmental control across all stations.
• Integrate transit subsystems such as communications, SCADA, security and signalling rooms while preserving design aesthetics.
• Manage Tier‑1 international architects, engineers and PMOs, conducting design reviews to meet schedule, budget and quality targets.
• Establish technical assurance gateways, safety‑by‑design protocols and configuration control to satisfy RAMS and local civil‑defence standards.
• Lead value‑engineering workshops to optimise spatial footprints, constructability and lifecycle costs.
• Serve as the primary technical interface with adjacent real‑estate developers to align station design with broader project requirements.

Required profile

• Senior professional with extensive experience leading integrated design teams on large transport or mixed‑use infrastructure projects.
• Proven track record managing international consultants and delivering complex technical governance.
• Strong understanding of driverless rail station requirements, safety standards and value‑engineering processes.
