Driller DD – Diamond Core Drilling Specialist

About the role

Saudi Gold Refinery is seeking a Driller DD to operate diamond core drilling rigs across its active exploration portfolio in the Arabian Shield, based in Riyadh. The role executes geological drilling programs, maintains high core recovery rates, and ensures strict adherence to field safety and environmental controls.

Key responsibilities

• Operate diamond core drilling rigs to achieve planned borehole depths while aligning with geological survey coordinates.
• Extract core samples, place them in standardized trays, and complete chain‑of‑custody documentation.
• Monitor drilling fluid viscosity, density, and circulation rates to stabilise borehole walls.
• Perform daily equipment inspections, lubricate moving components, and troubleshoot hydraulic and rotary‑head faults.
• Implement permit‑to‑work and lockout‑tagout procedures for all maintenance and high‑pressure operations.
• Submit daily shift logs detailing meters drilled, downtime causes, fuel consumption, and safety observations.
• Supervise rig assistants during rod handling, casing installation, and site cleanup, delivering daily toolbox talks.
• Apply environmental protection measures and ensure compliance with HSE standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating diamond core drilling rigs in mining or exploration projects.
• Ability to work on‑site in remote field conditions and coordinate with geologists and maintenance teams.
• Strong understanding of HSE permit‑to‑work, lockout‑tagout, and environmental protection procedures.
• Capability to perform routine equipment maintenance and diagnose mechanical issues.
• Attention to detail for accurate core handling, documentation, and reporting.
