Field Operator – Gas Turbine & Desalination Plant

About the role

The Field Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a combined gas‑turbine power plant and desalination facility. You will ensure the plant meets availability, reliability, efficiency and cost targets while complying with strict safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine plant checks, log‑sheet completion and monitor alarms.
• Execute start‑up, shutdown and extended shutdown procedures according to approved protocols.
• Carry out manual interventions during trips and ensure safe plant run‑down.
• Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as lube‑oil top‑up, filter replacement and de‑watering.
• Sample and analyse process water (steam, demineralised, distillate, portable) when chemistry support is unavailable.
• Monitor plant performance, report unsafe conditions and raise work orders for defects.
• Support the CRO during emergencies and act as acting CRO when required.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating modern gas‑turbine and desalination plants.
• Strong understanding of safety, quality and environmental management systems (IMS).
• Ability to follow detailed operating procedures and respond to abnormal conditions.
• Good communication skills for reporting and coordination with maintenance teams.
