Finance Associate – Country Office Accounting

About the role

The Finance Associate will support country‑office finance operations across multiple duty stations, handling payments, budgeting, cash management, reporting and internal controls. This role enables the World Bank offices to function efficiently and in line with global financial standards.

Key responsibilities

• Process financial transactions, including payables, payroll, travel advances and vendor payments.
• Prepare monthly expense forecasts, budget reports with variance analysis and perform bank reconciliations.
• Monitor purchase orders and manage vendor open items through administrative systems.
• Maintain internal controls over corporate cards, asset inventory and compliance matters.
• Provide financial and administrative guidance to the Country Manager and office staff.
• Support audit responses, documentation filing and drive process‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance or a related discipline.
• At least 1 year of relevant accounting or finance experience.
• Working knowledge of budget and finance systems, particularly SAP.
• Strong collaboration, project‑management and analytical abilities.
• Fluent English with excellent written and oral communication skills.
