Hazmat Officer – Hazardous Materials Specialist

About the role

A leading medical group in Saudi Arabia is looking for an experienced Hazmat Officer to oversee the safe handling, storage, transportation and disposal of hazardous materials. The role involves ensuring compliance with HSE standards, supporting emergency response, and promoting a safe working environment within a healthcare setting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and monitor hazardous material handling, storage, transport and disposal.
• Maintain documentation, safety records and inventories of hazardous substances.
• Support emergency response procedures for chemical incidents.
• Conduct safety inspections, identify hazards and ensure proper use of PPE and emergency equipment.
• Coordinate with internal teams during incidents and provide safety awareness training.
• Report safety violations and incidents promptly.

Required profile

• Relevant diploma, degree or professional qualification in Hazmat Management, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Safety or related field.
• Proven experience as a Hazmat Officer or Hazardous Materials Specialist.
• Preferably prior experience in the GCC region.
• Strong knowledge of hazardous material handling and safety procedures.
• Effective communication and reporting skills.
• Ability to work in a medical/healthcare environment.
