Head of Data

About the role

We are looking for a senior leader to own and shape the end‑to‑end data function at webook.com, Saudi Arabia’s leading event ticketing and experience platform. You will define the data strategy, build a high‑performing team, and turn first‑party data into trusted, monetisable assets while ensuring compliance with PDPL, GDPR and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and publish a documented data strategy and a phased, costed roadmap within the first 60 days.
• Define the target operating model for engineering, analytics, governance and the sequence of its implementation.
• Lead the decision on managed versus self‑hosted data platforms and present a cost‑control model within 90 days.
• Build, mentor and retain a high‑performing data team, set OKRs and conduct regular performance reviews.
• Ensure reliable, observable data pipelines and client‑facing dashboards with proactive data quality monitoring.
• Own platform direction across the modern data stack, making pragmatic build/buy and managed/self‑hosted choices.
• Implement FinOps discipline with a clear monthly budget, alerts and cost predictability.
• Establish infrastructure‑as‑code, data observability, SLAs and a governed semantic layer.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading a data function or data platform at scale.
• Strong track record of building and managing high‑performing technical teams.
• Ability to align data initiatives with measurable business outcomes.
• Experience working in regulated environments and ensuring data compliance.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with senior leadership.
