HSE Team Leader (Shutdown/Turnaround)

About the role

Abis is looking for an HSE Team Leader based in Al Jubail to lead the HSE team and drive the administration and implementation of HSE initiatives, programmes and procedures. The role covers shutdown and turnaround projects in the oil and gas sector.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the HSE team and ensure company HSE policies, procedures, regulations and objectives are implemented
• Take part in developing and running operational risk assessments for critical activities
• Run Behavioural Safety Audits and high-profile tours according to HSEMS guidelines
• Carry out or arrange workplace HSE inspections and audits, and follow up on remedial actions
• Audit subcontractors for compliance with HSE systems and monitor their HSE performance
• Maintain accident statistics, analyse trends and propose and take remedial action
• Assist in investigating accidents, incidents and near misses and recommend prevention measures
• Develop and run HSE awareness campaigns and identify training needs for subordinates
• Manage subordinates' activities and recruit and train HSE support staff
• Set up project HSE programmes, including training and audit plans, and improve the HSE management plan and performance standards

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Safety Engineering or similar
• 10-12 years of experience in HSE, preferably in oil and gas shutdown and turnaround projects
• Saudi or Gulf experience preferred
• OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 Lead Auditor
• NEBOSH qualification or OSHA training
