Kitchen Engineer‑Technician

About the role

The Kitchen Engineer‑Technician is responsible for maintaining all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within the hotel kitchen area. Working independently and with minimal supervision, you will ensure guest repair requests are resolved quickly and that preventive maintenance programs are executed flawlessly.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to guest repair requests and perform corrective actions on kitchen equipment, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Carry out preventive maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and visual inspections of tools and machinery.
• Identify and operate shut‑off valves, manage maintenance inventory, and requisition parts as needed.
• Communicate daily activities and issues to subsequent shifts using approved procedures.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and plumbing diagrams.
• Perform complex repairs on air‑conditioning, refrigeration, pool heaters, pumps, motors, and other mechanical assets.
• Apply Lockout/Tagout procedures before any maintenance work.
• Utilise engineering software for preventive maintenance, energy management, and MEP troubleshooting.
• Train and mentor junior engineers and act as Engineer on Duty when required.

Required profile

• Advanced ability to read standard blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Above‑average mechanical aptitude with strong general engineering operations skills.
• Proficiency in at least three of the following: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic controls, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicle maintenance, energy conservation, building management.
• Ability to work safely with hand and power tools and follow all safety and security policies.
• Capability to train others and assume Engineer on Duty responsibilities.
