Lighting Subject Matter Expert – Roadway Projects

About the role

WSP is seeking a Lighting Subject Matter Expert to lead technical guidance, design review, and site supervision for major roadway and highway lighting projects in Riyadh. The role ensures compliance with Saudi and international standards while delivering energy‑efficient, high‑performance lighting solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Review and validate lighting designs for roads, highways, interchanges, tunnels and bridges.
• Ensure compliance with MOT, MOMRA, SEC, SABQ and standards such as IES, CIE, BS/EN.
• Evaluate photometric calculations, lumen output and energy‑saving performance.
• Advise on fixtures, poles, control systems and smart‑lighting technologies.
• Supervise installation of poles, foundations, cabling, power supplies, control cabinets and smart‑lighting systems.
• Conduct site inspections, verify materials, and oversee testing and commissioning.
• Coordinate with civil, electrical, ITS and design teams to integrate lighting systems.
• Prepare technical reports, inspection reports, NCRs and quality documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 15+ years of experience in highway/road lighting design, supervision and project execution.
• Prior experience on large‑scale infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia, especially Riyadh.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
