Mechanical Design Engineer - Drill Bits

About the role

Baker Hughes is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop and optimise drill‑bit designs for the oil and gas sector. You will work within a collaborative environment, interfacing with product, operations and manufacturing teams to deliver high‑performance solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Create drill‑bit design and manufacturing packages using 3‑D modelling and data‑management systems.
• Collaborate with Product Line Management, Operations, Manufacturing and Technology groups to improve product performance and process efficiency.
• Document and share lessons learned across cross‑functional teams.
• Support manufacturing by troubleshooting and resolving design‑related issues.
• Ensure all activities comply with HSE, Quality, Legal and Cultural standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 2‑5 years of experience designing drill bits.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD systems.
• Awareness of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) principles.
• Ability to select appropriate engineering techniques and use analysis tools to make sound design recommendations.
• Familiarity with mechanical component design and product design standards.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
