Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

IC İçtaş Construction is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design of mechanical systems for a large‑scale road project in Riyadh. The role involves coordinating multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with international and Saudi standards, and supporting the project from concept through handover.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and coordination of mechanical systems for road and infrastructure works.
• Prepare and review detailed calculations, specifications, BOQs and construction drawings.
• Design potable water, irrigation, storm‑water, sewerage, firefighting and pumping station networks.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and size pipelines, pumps, storage tanks and related facilities.
• Coordinate utility interfaces with civil, structural, electrical and road disciplines.
• Review and approve technical submissions, shop drawings, method statements and material submittals.
• Support value‑engineering studies to optimise cost, constructability and efficiency.
• Provide engineering support during construction, testing, commissioning and handover.
• Participate in technical meetings with clients, consultants, authorities and stakeholders.
• Ensure BIM coordination and clash detection are completed as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8‑10 years of mechanical design experience on major infrastructure, transportation or urban development projects.
• Proven experience with water networks, sewerage, storm‑water, irrigation, firefighting and pumping stations.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA, AWWA, ASHRAE, ASME and relevant Saudi regulations.
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
• Previous experience on projects in the Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia, is highly preferred.

Required skills

• WaterGEMS and SewerGEMS.
• Civil 3D and AutoCAD (or equivalent).
• BIM environment coordination and clash detection.
• Hydraulic design and engineering calculations.
• Familiarity with international design codes and Saudi regulatory standards.
