Mechanical Engineer - Maintenance

About the role

Careers International is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer for a maintenance position in Jeddah, in the paper industry. The engineer acts as head of the mechanical function for a business unit and plans, controls and manages all maintenance activities so that quality and service standards are met, targets are reached or exceeded and costs stay within the approved budget.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor daily progress of mechanical maintenance activities and supervise preventive, breakdown and planned maintenance.
• Improve systems to extend the life of running machines and collect recurring problems from subordinates to implement better solutions.
• Follow up critical spares with the purchasing department and suppliers, and prepare the annual budget for the mechanical maintenance department.
• Keep correspondence with suppliers to develop cost-effective spares and reduce maintenance costs.
• Prepare a monthly report on maintenance activity, spare parts situation, downtime and maintenance costs.
• Coordinate with the machine shop supervisor to make spares in-house where possible.
• Carry out other tasks as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical.
• Preferably 8 years of experience in a similar function.
• Advanced English language skills.
• Strong management and team leadership skills.
