Mechanical Technician – Steam & Gas

About the role

The Mechanical Technician (Steam & Gas) is responsible for safely installing, maintaining, inspecting and repairing heavy rotating machinery used in power generation. The role works closely with supervisors, HSE personnel and the operations department to ensure reliable plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Read schematic drawings and technical documentation to determine proper work procedures.
• Dismantle and assemble machinery and equipment using hand, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools.
• Move machinery, parts and equipment with hoists, cranes, chain falls and trucks.
• Align machinery using hoists, squares, micrometers, dial indicators or laser alignment equipment.
• Perform inspections with precision measuring tools such as micrometers, rules and calipers.
• Control tools, equipment and supplies and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Diploma in a technical field; Gas Turbine Systems Technician qualification preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience maintaining, dismantling and installing industrial equipment (pumps, motors, fans, generators, turbines).
• Good understanding of latest technology, legal, quality and HSSE requirements.
• Knowledge of power plant operations, maintenance practices and procedures.
• Willingness to travel, work on international/hardship sites and undertake shift work.
