Mechanical Technician – Steam & Gas Turbine Maintenance

About the role

The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for the safe installation, maintenance, inspection and repair of heavy rotating machinery used in power generation, particularly steam and gas turbines. You will work closely with outage managers, field service engineers and plant crews on international sites.

Key responsibilities

• Read schematic drawings and technical documentation to determine correct work procedures.
• Dismantle, assemble, align and move machinery using hand, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools, hoists, cranes and chain falls.
• Perform machine and component inspections with precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers and dial indicators.
• Control tools, equipment and supplies and ensure compliance with legal, quality and HSSE requirements.

Required profile

• Diploma in a technical field; Gas Turbine Systems Technician preferred.
• Minimum two years’ experience maintaining, dismantling and installing industrial machinery (pumps, motors, fans, generators, turbines).
• Willingness to travel, work on international and hardship locations and perform shift work.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools.
• Experience using hoists, cranes, chain falls and trucks for moving equipment.
• Ability to align machinery using squares, micrometers, dial indicators or laser alignment equipment.
• Competence in precision measurement using micrometers, rules and calipers.
