Phlebotomist – Donor Collection Technician

About the role

The Phlebotomist/Donor Collection Technician is responsible for drawing blood from patients or donors, ensuring accurate identification, and maintaining high standards of care and safety within CARE Hospitals and Clinics.

Key responsibilities

• Collect blood from patients or donors in hospitals, blood banks or similar facilities for analysis or other medical purposes.
• Prepare and assemble phlebotomy equipment, verify patient identity, perform venipuncture or capillary collection, label and store specimens.
• Transport specimens promptly to the clinical laboratory and ensure proper documentation.
• Manage mild adverse reactions, follow safety and infection‑control protocols, and maintain a clean work area.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Nursing or related field, or equivalent.
• Current registration with the appropriate medical technologist/technician authority and valid SCFHS & MOH license in Saudi Arabia.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum two years of phlebotomy or similar experience.

Required skills

• Advanced venipuncture and capillary blood collection across all age groups, including neonates.
• Specimen handling, labeling, stabilization and timely transport.
• Use of Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) for record‑keeping.
• Knowledge of biosafety, infection‑control and regulatory standards (JCIA, CBAHI, CAP, AABB, SFDA).
• Computer literacy and fluency in written and spoken English.
