Product Engineer II - Backend

About the role

Tamara is looking for a Backend Engineer to help build cutting‑edge platforms that enable seamless, scalable transactions for millions of users across the GCC. You will work on payment, shopping, and banking systems, designing secure and robust software infrastructure that powers Tamara’s financial super‑app.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain APIs, services, and systems across Tamara’s engineering teams.
• Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, analysts, product experts and operations teams to deliver features that span various parts of the system.
• Work closely with business and product teams to understand user pain points and translate them into technical solutions.

Required profile

• 4+ years of software development experience.
• Proven ability to build scalable products and services.
• Experience working in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment, preferably in a startup.
• Proactive, goal‑oriented and comfortable responding quickly to changing priorities.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of AWS and OCI.
• Experience with containerisation tools such as Kubernetes and Docker.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and messaging tools like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Understanding of SOLID principles and design patterns.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Knowledge of JavaScript, Vue.js, HTML and CSS (a plus).
