Protection Engineer – BESS Infrastructure

About the role

We are seeking a Protection Engineer to design, review and verify protection settings and logic for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) infrastructure, including substations, transformers and inverters. The role involves ensuring reliable operation of high‑voltage, medium‑voltage and low‑voltage protection schemes in compliance with regional standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and validate protection settings and logic for BESS projects.
• Perform calculations, coordination studies and fault analysis for HV, MV and LV protection systems.
• Oversee testing, pre‑commissioning and commissioning of protection relays such as SECO, Siemens, ABB and Schneider.
• Troubleshoot complex protection issues, investigate tripping events and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure all engineering work complies with GCC standards, SEC regulations and project safety guidelines.
• Coordinate with site operations, subcontractors and grid authorities during integration phases.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience with protection engineering for power systems or BESS projects.
• Strong analytical skills for fault analysis and coordination studies.
• Familiarity with regional standards and safety regulations.

• Protection relay testing and commissioning (SECO, Siemens, ABB, Schneider).
