QC Civil Engineer – HV Underground Cable Projects

About the role

The Quality Control (QC) Civil Engineer will oversee all civil works related to high‑voltage (HV/EHV) underground cable projects. Reporting to the Project Manager and working closely with site teams, the role ensures that construction complies with approved drawings, specifications, SEC standards and the Project Quality Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor the Project Quality Plan and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for all civil activities.
• Inspect civil construction, including trenching, duct banks, manholes, cable chambers, and associated structures, verifying compliance with drawings, method statements and SEC requirements.
• Prepare and coordinate Inspection Requests (IRs) with SEC and consultants, and maintain complete documentation of inspections and tests.
• Monitor earthworks, soil preparation, bedding, back‑filling and compaction, reviewing field density test results and laboratory reports.
• Supervise concrete works, reinforcement, formwork, curing, and structural elements such as retaining structures and foundations.
• Ensure proper coordination between civil and electrical works to avoid damage to installed cables.
• Verify use of approved materials, methods and workmanship standards throughout the project lifecycle.
