QC Inspector - Civil (MRI)

About the role

Samsung E&A, a specialized EPC company covering engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and O&M across oil and gas, refinery, petrochemical and energy transition sectors, is hiring a full-time QC Inspector for civil works in Jubail. The inspector performs quality activities according to the project's quality management system, sets up inspection and test plans and records, and ensures work conforms to quality requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and perform civil discipline inspections, generate client Requests for Inspection (RFI) with sufficient notice for hold, witness and inspection points, and control inspection status with inspection matrices.
• Prepare or review subcontractor documents such as Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and Material Approval Requests (MAR), and approve inspection reports.
• Set practical inspection processes for the discipline, close out Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) within the due date and support corrective actions.
• Coordinate inspections with the client, act as QC Supervisor in their absence, and run toolbox talks to control quality violations.
• Review and track civil material submittals, inspect incoming deliveries visually and by measurement, and reject unacceptable materials.
• Monitor civil activities such as compressive strength tests, soil compaction and on-site/off-site lab tests, and inspect civil definable features before preparatory meetings.

Required profile

• Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• Certificate related to the civil discipline.
• Construction experience from project start to completion as QC Inspector or Supervisor in oil and gas, petrochemical, building or infrastructure.
• Experience in the engineering and construction industries.
• Ability to plan and control inspections for medium-scale projects (0.5 to 1.5 billion dollars).

Required skills

• Thorough knowledge of building codes such as the International Building Code (IBC) or equivalent.
• Knowledge of construction techniques: soil mechanics, foundations, retaining walls, structural steel, masonry, finishes, roofs and asphalt.
• Field surveying and calculation, analysis of non-conformities, and documentation control.
• Client management, communication, problem solving and decision making.
