QC Inspector - Electrical (Preservation)

About the role

Samsung E&A, a specialized EPC company covering engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and O&M across oil and gas, refinery, petrochemical and energy transition sectors, is hiring a full-time QC Inspector for the Electrical discipline in Jubail. The inspector performs quality activities according to the project's quality management system and monitors preservation, installation and testing of electrical equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform electrical inspections and generate client Requests for Inspection (RFI) with sufficient notice for hold, witness and inspection points.
• Prepare and review subcontractor documents such as Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and Material Approval Requests (MAR), and approve inspection reports.
• Control inspection status with tools such as inspection matrices, and ensure NCRs are closed within the due date with a corrective action plan.
• Inspect incoming materials against approved submittals, carry out visual and measurement tests, and reject unacceptable materials.
• Witness testing and functional checks of switchgear, control gear, transformers, MV power cable terminations, motor no-load tests, cathodic protection, heat tracing, fire alarm and telecommunication systems with the client.
• Review the Energization Package and Motor Solo Run Packages before company approval, and inspect and witness the loop folder and loop checks.
• Monitor that IFC drawings, correct materials and proper handling, storage and preservation of equipment are followed, and that method statements and ITPs match the project quality plan.
• Carry out QC Supervisor duties in their absence, run toolbox talks on quality violations, and coordinate inspections with the client.

Required profile

• Experience as a QA/QC Electrical Inspector or Supervisor E&I.
• Widespread exposure to electrical and instrument installation and pre-commissioning/start-up of electrical equipment in plants such as petrochemical, refinery, CO2 capture and injection facilities, gas and water injection facilities.
• Thorough working knowledge of the National Electric Code/NFPA 70, IEC or equivalent standards, and of electrical installations, materials, methods, specifications and hazardous location identification for oil and gas or petrochemical industries.
• Ability to investigate non-conformities, plan and control inspections on medium and mega-scale projects, and to prepare reports and documentation.

Required skills

• ITP study, prevention and resolution of inconsistencies, pre-inspection and RFI management.
• Punch list management and implementation, plant start-up, operation, maintenance and final handover.
• Technical knowledge of cooling towers, compressors, tank farms, reactors and reformers, flare areas, 230 kV and 34.5 kV GIS substations, MV/LV substations, central control buildings, remote interface buildings and emergency diesel generators.
