QC Inspector - Instrumentation

About the role

Samsung E&A, a specialized EPC company covering oil and gas, refinery, petrochemical, energy transition and industrial sectors, is hiring a full-time QC Inspector for the Instrumentation discipline in Jubail. The inspector performs quality activities according to the project's quality management system, sets up inspection and test plans and records, and ensures work conforms to quality requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and perform inspection of the instrument discipline, including setting and applying practical inspection processes based on project requirements and international codes.
• Generate client Requests for Inspection (RFI) with sufficient notice for hold, witness and inspection points.
• Prepare or review subcontractor documents such as Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and Material Approval Requests (MAR), and approve inspection reports.
• Control inspection status with tools such as an inspection matrix, and close out Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) within the due date with a corrective action plan.
• Coordinate inspections with the client and act as QC Supervisor in their absence.
• Hold toolbox talks with the construction team on quality violations, review and track material submittals, and inspect incoming deliveries visually and by measurement.
• Reject unacceptable materials and ensure lessons learned and preventive actions are applied.
• Supervise simulation and loop checking of instruments, and carry out third-party valve testing of control valves and PSVs, witnessing and reporting visual and dimensional inspections and calibrations.

Required profile

• Experience from project start to completion.
• Technical knowledge of international codes and standards for the discipline, and ability to use suitable inspection and test tools.
• Able to investigate non-conformities and analyse observations to find solutions.
• Ability to read drawings such as P&ID, connection lists, hook-ups and data sheets.
• Good communication skills and ability to coordinate on construction issues.
• Capability to plan and control inspections for medium-scale projects (0.5 to 1.5 billion dollars).
