Safety Officer – HSE Specialist

About the role

The Safety Officer will lead the organisation’s health, safety and environmental (HSE) initiatives, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations. You will work closely with engineering teams to embed safety best‑practice across power‑system and mechanical projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain HSE policies, procedures and risk‑assessment frameworks.
• Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits and incident investigations.
• Provide safety training and guidance to electrical and mechanical engineering personnel.
• Monitor compliance with NEBOSH standards and local HSE legislation.
• Prepare safety reports, statistics and recommendations for senior management.

Required profile

• NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (mandatory).
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum five years of experience in electrical power‑system engineering (transmission & distribution) or mechanical engineering with a strong health‑and‑safety focus.
• Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and industry best practices.
