Senior Backend Engineer – AI Applications & OpenShift

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and deliver secure, scalable backend services that power AI‑enabled enterprise applications. You will work in a hybrid environment, collaborating with AI, data, DevOps and cybersecurity teams to build real‑time, cloud‑native solutions that drive business impact across industries.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain secure backend services and RESTful APIs for enterprise web applications.
• Build and enhance services for reporting, dashboards, notifications, user workflows, administrative functions, and AI‑enabled capabilities.
• Integrate applications with enterprise data sources, operational platforms, document repositories, and existing backend systems.
• Develop real‑time or near‑real‑time data flows using APIs, WebSockets, Server‑Sent Events, message queues, and similar patterns.
• Collaborate with AI and data teams to embed model outputs, analytics, RAG/LLM capabilities, and monitoring components into workflows.
• Support containerised deployments using Docker, OpenShift and Kubernetes, leveraging Bitbucket/Git, CI/CD pipelines, release management and environment configuration.
• Ensure reliability, security and operational readiness through troubleshooting, logging, monitoring, performance optimisation, secure coding, testing and documentation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in full‑stack or backend‑focused enterprise application development.
• Proven ability to design and build scalable services with Node.js, Java/Spring Boot, Python/FastAPI/Django or similar frameworks.
• Strong background in RESTful API design, documentation and real‑time integration patterns.
• Hands‑on experience with container platforms (Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to work closely with cross‑functional teams including AI, DevOps, cybersecurity and business stakeholders.
• Fluent professional English; Arabic is a strong plus.
