Senior Backend Engineer (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join a global technology leader on a contract basis. The position is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere while contributing to high‑traffic, mission‑critical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimise backend services using modern languages and frameworks.
• Build and maintain APIs, databases, and micro‑services architectures.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, bugs, and system failures.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code following industry best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment pipelines to ensure high‑quality deliverables.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a backend engineer, preferably at a senior level.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Python, Java, or Go programming languages.
• RESTful APIs and GraphQL.
• SQL and NoSQL database design.
• Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Docker and Kubernetes for containerisation and orchestration.
• CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Unit, integration, and end‑to‑end testing.
