Senior Design Engineer – Electrical C&I

About the role

As a Senior Design Engineer – Electrical C&I you will ensure the reliability, optimisation and regulatory compliance of control systems and instrumentation for Sulzer’s centrifugal pumps. You will lead detailed engineering studies, calculations, BOMs and documentation to meet customer and safety standards while supporting innovative fluid‑engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate electrical drawings, Bills of Materials and specifications using EPLAN and AutoCAD.
• Perform and validate detailed design calculations for pump components, ensuring safety and quality requirements are met.
• Design and develop customised pump assemblies based on customer specifications and company standards.
• Collaborate with Sales, Tendering, Project Management and Manufacturing to support project execution and resolve technical challenges.
• Supervise and review the work of design engineers and drafters, ensuring quality and adherence to timelines.
• Participate in order reviews, design meetings and administrative functions to support effective project management.
• Contribute to process improvements and uphold EHS and company quality standards.
• Attend customer meetings and site visits to ensure satisfaction and technical alignment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5–8 years of experience in electrical and mechanical design environments, preferably with pump or fluid‑engineering projects.
• Proven leadership and mentoring abilities, with strong time‑management and multitasking skills.
• Excellent problem‑solving capability and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• EPLAN (electrical CAD) – primary design tool.
• AutoCAD – minimum CAD competency.
• Teamcenter and SAP – product data and material management.
• Electrical drafting and detailed calculation techniques for pump components.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes for electrical assemblies.
• Familiarity with Lean principles and EHS standards.
