Systems Engineer (Linux) - Saudi National

About the role

DeepSource Technologies is hiring a Systems Engineer (Linux) based in Riyadh, KSA, who will oversee the configuration, installation and maintenance of Unix operating systems and VCS clusters, provide BAU support and incident resolution, and help keep systems secure and performant.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the configuration, installation and maintenance of Unix operating systems (e.g. AIX, Solaris, HP-UX) and VCS clusters
• Apply patches and updates and implement security measures so systems comply with policies, regulations and best practices
• Provide fast, effective BAU support and manage incidents and requests, including root cause analysis and preventive measures
• Monitor and optimise system performance, configure hardware, adjust kernel parameters and manage system resources
• Implement monitoring tools and Bash scripts to proactively manage system health
• Create and maintain documentation of configurations, procedures and troubleshooting steps, and generate reports on performance, incidents and maintenance
• Work closely with network, database and application teams to ensure seamless integration

Required profile

• Saudi national
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and effective communication
• Previous exposure migrating VCS clusters (host-based and array-based)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Required skills

• RHEL6, RHEL7 and RHEL8, and Veritas Cluster Server in large-scale data centre environments
• VCS in a Red Hat Linux environment (physical and virtual), including Storage Foundation, Volume Manager, Veritas Infoscale and Cluster File System
• Testing and upgrading VCS with detailed documentation
• Large VMware infrastructure experience
• Patching Linux servers and migration of legacy RHEL6/RHEL7 servers to RHEL8
• Automation with Ansible and YAML and Puppet
• Change management and attendance at change board meetings
• Nice to have: Solaris and AIX administration, RHCSA/RHCE certification, ServiceNow, Git and GitLab, Red Hat Satellite, Dynatrace
