Wound Care Nurse

About the role

The Wound Care Nurse provides comprehensive, evidence‑based wound management for patients of all ages. The role includes assessment, treatment planning, education of patients, families and staff, and collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal healing outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Perform wound assessment, staging, and ongoing management for neonates, pediatric, geriatric and general patients.
• Develop, update and enforce wound‑care standards, policies, competencies and documentation tools.
• Educate nursing staff, patients and families on wound management, pressure‑ulcer prevention, support surfaces and dressing selection.
• Lead quarterly Pressure Ulcer Prevalence Surveys and monitor hospital‑acquired pressure injury rates.
• Consult with other healthcare professionals to provide an interdisciplinary approach to wound care.
• Revise care plans based on patient response and evaluate effectiveness.
• Participate in performance‑improvement initiatives, product evaluations and training programs.
• Report unsafe practices and provide constructive feedback to the healthcare team.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse qualification (RN) with experience in wound assessment and management.
• Ability to educate patients, families and staff on wound care practices.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
