Zakat & Direct Tax Lead

About the role

The Zakat & Direct Tax Lead will direct, lead and manage all Zakat and tax matters for Riyad Bank. The role ensures compliance, strategic planning and effective communication with senior management and external authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Implement departmental policies, procedures and monitor adherence across the team.
• Oversee day‑to‑day tax and Zakat operations to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Prepare, review and monitor the annual operating and financial budgets for various bank functions.
• Make decisions on complex tax issues and maintain auditable documentation.
• Collect and analyse data to ensure accurate tax and Zakat calculations.
• Track regulatory changes and keep the bank updated on relevant legislation.
• Review staff deliverables such as tax returns, extensions and planning calculations.
• Conduct complex tax research and produce memoranda with findings.
• Interact with tax authorities and clients during audits, inquiries and notices.
• Support business development and provide internal tax advisory services to senior management.
• Coordinate internal and external audit requirements and ensure timely delivery of information.
• Lead, coach and develop a team of tax professionals, including Saudi nationals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting.
• 6‑8 years of banking experience with at least 2 years in a managerial tax role.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
