Area Sales Manager

About the role

The Area Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing the performance of multiple apparel stores, driving sales growth and ensuring exceptional customer service across the region. This role combines strategic planning, staff development and operational oversight to meet and exceed company targets.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve quantitative performance measures such as units per transaction, average transaction value, sales per month, sales per square foot, turnover, shrinkage control and conversion rate.
• Set and monitor store sales targets to maximise profitability.
• Conduct regular staff meetings and enforce company SOPs, policies and loss‑prevention guidelines.
• Oversee visual merchandising implementation and ensure compliance with brand standards.
• Monitor inventory movement and manage shrinkage.
• Recruit, hire and train new employees on sales techniques, customer service and brand etiquette.
• Evaluate employee performance annually, provide coaching and motivate teams.
• Interpret operational and visual standards based on store and client needs, and communicate business drivers, merchandise and quality issues.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing multiple retail stores or regions.
• Strong leadership and decision‑making abilities.
• Track record of meeting sales targets and improving key performance indicators.
• Knowledge of SOP enforcement, loss prevention and visual merchandising.
• Excellent communication skills for coaching staff and reporting to senior management.
• Ability to analyse inventory data and drive operational efficiency.
