Control Room Operator

About the role

The Control Room Operator is responsible for monitoring and controlling plant operation parameters, ensuring safe and efficient performance of the unit. Working closely with the Shift Charge Engineer, Shift Supervisor and fellow operators, you will manage real‑time data, respond to abnormal conditions and maintain accurate logs.

Key responsibilities

• Comply with all safety rules, fire equipment usage and QHSE procedures.
• Monitor unit parameters, record periodic readings and summarize shift activities in the log book.
• Execute Lock Out & Tag Out during equipment isolation and normalize equipment after maintenance.
• Inspect unit and auxiliaries, report abnormalities and perform protection tests under supervision.
• Raise work requests for faulty equipment, follow up on defect rectification and assist in training new operators.
• Report near‑misses, deviations and ensure proper waste disposal.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering or Engineering Diploma.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar control‑room position.
• Strong knowledge of plant P&IDs, SOPs, work instructions and emergency procedures.

Required skills

• Power/Water plant operational activities.
• Lock Out & Tag Out procedures.
• P&ID interpretation.
• SOP adherence.
• ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 awareness.
• Basic computer skills.
• Emission monitoring and waste identification.
• Firefighting equipment and first‑aid knowledge.
