Director IT Projects and Portfolio Management

About the role

The Director of IT Projects and Portfolio Management will lead the IT PMO, ensuring alignment of projects with business objectives and delivering measurable benefits. This senior position reports to senior leadership and works in a fast‑paced telecom environment.

Key responsibilities

• Define, manage and direct end‑to‑end IT PMO activities, applying best‑practice techniques to quantify and track benefits.
• Provide regular visibility on the IT project portfolio, reporting status, decisions, dependencies, issues, risks and metrics.
• Continuously evaluate and improve project‑management practices to raise PPM maturity.
• Lead PPMO meetings, present performance updates, and drive corrective actions while prioritising programmes based on company and IT objectives.
• Generate integrated project status reports and performance metrics for strategic IT projects.
• Collaborate with internal audit and risk management to enforce IT controls and ensure compliance.
• Oversee remediation of internal audit observations and risk findings, providing updates to relevant departments.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by senior leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of project‑management experience.
• At least 5 years leading or managing a PMO.
• Over 8 years of management experience, including supervising a team of project‑management professionals.
• Minimum of 5 years working in the telecom sector.
