Fare and Ticketing Expert

About the role

DB Engineering & Consulting seeks a seasoned Fare and Ticketing Expert to lead the design, implementation and optimisation of fare policy and Automated Fare Collection (AFC) systems for public transport projects in Saudi Arabia. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless, secure and revenue‑optimised ticketing solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, rollout and continuous improvement of fare policies and ticketing systems (AFC) for public transport services.
• Develop and manage fare structures, pricing strategies and revenue‑management frameworks.
• Oversee operation and integration of AFC components, including smart cards, EMV/contactless payments and mobile ticketing platforms.
• Ensure interoperability between AFC, AVM and other intelligent transport systems.
• Monitor system performance against KPIs, SLAs and contractual obligations.
• Analyse ridership, revenue and transaction data to refine fare policies and improve efficiency.
• Coordinate with operators, banks and technology providers to deliver secure payment solutions.
• Support troubleshooting, upgrades and continuous improvement of ticketing technologies and customer interfaces.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Transport Planning, IT Systems or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in fare systems and ticketing within public transport or mobility projects.
• Proven track record with AFC technologies, smart cards, EMV/contactless payments and mobile ticketing.
• Strong understanding of fare policy design, revenue management and transport economics.
• Experience managing AFC vendors, integrators and performance‑based contracts.
• Familiarity with system integration across ITS domains (AFC, AVM, back‑office systems).
• Excellent analytical, stakeholder coordination and communication skills.
