Mechanical Power Transformer Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Power Transformer Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design of power transformers up to 50 MVA and 132 kV. The role involves creating detailed drawings, coordinating with cross‑functional teams, and supporting manufacturing and testing activities.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical components of power transformers, including tanks, covers, radiators, conservators, oil preservation systems, core clamping structures, and bushing arrangements.
• Prepare general arrangement drawings, fabrication and manufacturing drawings, and bills of materials.
• Coordinate with electrical design, production, QA/QC, procurement and vendors to ensure alignment with specifications.
• Participate in design reviews and technical discussions.
• Provide technical support during fabrication, assembly, and factory acceptance testing, resolving design‑related issues.
• Optimize designs for structural strength, durability, thermal performance, and cost‑effectiveness.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical design of power transformers (up to 132 kV class).
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Hands‑on experience with transformer manufacturing, fabrication, and production processes.
• Familiarity with IEC and ANSI standards, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 awareness, and industrial safety practices.

Required skills

• AutoCAD (mandatory).
• PTC Creo, Siemens NX or Autodesk Inventor (preferred).
• Microsoft Office suite.
