Section Manager, Material Planning

About the role

The Section Manager, Material Planning is responsible for ensuring that all materials required for production are available on time, supporting the company's manufacturing schedule and customer commitments. This role works closely with procurement, production, warehouse, sales, logistics and quality teams to maintain optimal inventory levels and drive cost‑effective supply‑chain performance.

Key responsibilities

• Implement material planning processes aligned with departmental strategies and operational requirements.
• Review material requirements based on demand forecasts, production schedules and current inventory status.
• Issue material requisitions to procurement promptly to secure needed supplies.
• Monitor stock levels of raw materials, components and consumables, preventing shortages or excess.
• Coordinate with warehouse teams to keep accurate inventory records and resolve discrepancies.
• Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries that match production needs.
• Track and report section‑level KPIs such as material availability, stock accuracy and order fulfillment.
• Identify risks related to shortages, supplier delays or forecast errors and propose mitigation actions.
