Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Remote)

About the role

Our partner is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer based in Saudi Arabia. You will design, build, and evolve infrastructure that supports large‑scale, customer‑facing products, taking end‑to‑end ownership of critical systems from architecture through production operations and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Own a core infrastructure product or subsystem end‑to‑end, including design, implementation, deployment, operation, and ongoing improvement.
• Define project objectives, align technical initiatives with business goals, and proactively identify risks.
• Translate product requirements into pragmatic designs that handle edge cases without unnecessary complexity.
• Build and maintain secure, resilient, high‑performing, and cost‑efficient infrastructure for diverse workloads.
• Design, develop, and ship software and developer‑facing tooling to improve productivity and reduce operational toil.
• Manage infrastructure as code, primarily using Terraform, while ensuring consistency with architectural patterns.
• Partner with product engineering teams to design scalable services and resolve ambiguous technical requirements.
• Participate in incident response, applying systematic debugging techniques across interconnected services.
• Improve monitoring and observability, using operational data to enhance stability, performance, and reliability.
• Apply a security‑first mindset, proactively identifying vulnerabilities in your work and during peer reviews.

Required profile

• 6–10 years of experience in infrastructure, platform, or backend engineering, preferably on AWS.
• Proven ownership of a significant product, platform component, or subsystem from design through production.
• T‑shaped expertise with deep specialization in one or two infrastructure domains and breadth across the technology stack.
• Strong hands‑on experience managing infrastructure as code (Terraform or equivalent).
• Deep understanding of cloud fundamentals, networking, load balancing, containerization, Kubernetes/EKS, and distributed systems.
• Proficient programming skills in Go, Python, or a comparable language.
• Hands‑on experience operating Redis or ElastiCache in production, including scaling and failover strategies.
• Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and performance tuning.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals: source control, code review, testing, edge‑case handling, safe deployments.
• High ownership, autonomy, and ability to work with incomplete or ambiguous requirements.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication, and English language skills (written and spoken).
