Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Chestertons Saudi Arabia is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Building Consultancy & Project Management team in Riyadh. The role involves overseeing mechanical design, site execution, and handover of commercial fit‑out and refurbishment projects.

Key responsibilities

• Review, validate and approve mechanical designs, shop drawings, material submittals, method statements and technical calculations.
• Ensure compliance with codes and standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, IPC and SBC, as well as local authority requirements.
• Supervise on‑site activities for HVAC, plumbing, firefighting and fire‑protection systems, conduct inspections and monitor contractor performance.
• Support tendering and procurement by preparing RFPs, technical specifications and evaluating submissions.
• Oversee testing, commissioning and handover, verify system performance, and review as‑built documentation.
• Coordinate with internal departments, consultants and stakeholders, providing progress updates and risk notifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 6‑10+ years of experience in renovation, retrofit, fit‑out or refurbishment projects for commercial, retail or mixed‑use assets.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, ensure constructability and meet client expectations.
