Senior Project Manager – Thermal Power Plant Fuel Conversion (Oil to Natural Gas)

About the role

The Senior Project Manager will lead the end‑to‑end EPC delivery of a fuel conversion project, switching an operating thermal power plant from oil to natural gas. The role demands strong leadership across engineering integration, brownfield execution, gas infrastructure coordination, commissioning and hand‑over while ensuring no disruption to plant operations.

Key responsibilities

• Own overall project profit & loss, schedule and delivery strategy.
• Define and execute the EPC/EPCM plan, including phased shutdown and resource mobilization.
• Establish and maintain project controls: baseline schedule, cost control, KPIs and risk management.
• Lead cross‑functional teams in engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Coordinate with client, OEMs, consultants and stakeholders to meet contractual milestones.
• Oversee design and implementation of gas receiving stations, pressure‑reducing systems, fuel‑gas piping, compressors, burner conversion and dual‑fuel systems.
• Manage electrical modifications, switchgear, MCCs, transformers, UPS and power integration.
• Direct I&C/DCS/BMS changes, interlocks, control logic, gas detection and ESD systems.
• Ensure compliance with Saudi Energy standards, NFPA, ASME, API, IEC and other applicable codes.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience delivering large‑scale EPC projects in the power or industrial sector.
• Demonstrated ability to manage full P&L, schedule and risk for brownfield conversions.
• Strong track record of coordinating multi‑disciplinary teams and stakeholder groups.
• Excellent knowledge of plant safety, HSE standards and regulatory requirements.
