Assistant Consultant – Medical Oncology

About the role

The Assistant Consultant in Medical Oncology supports the senior consultant in delivering high‑quality cancer care within a hospital setting. The role involves direct patient management, supervision of trainees, participation in research and contribution to departmental administration.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Consultant with patient assessment, treatment planning and follow‑up in medical oncology.
• Provide inpatient, emergency and on‑call services, ensuring timely documentation and discharge planning.
• Supervise and train interns, residents and fellows through bedside teaching and orientation.
• Participate in clinical, basic and translational research projects in accordance with hospital policy.
• Undertake administrative duties assigned by the Head of Section or Chairman and serve on departmental committees.
• Maintain compliance with hospital bylaws, policies and continuing education requirements.

Required profile

• Medical degree from an accredited school in good standing.
• Completion of postgraduate training in a relevant specialty with Saudi, American, Canadian or UK board certification, or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of post‑graduate training or equivalent experience.
• Ability to provide high‑quality patient care and maintain accurate medical records.
• Commitment to teaching, research and departmental service.
