Associate Designer II

About the role
At Fluor, we are seeking an experienced civil engineering professional to lead design work for earthwork, grading, roads, paving and drainage on petrochemical and oil & gas projects. The role involves developing detailed designs, reviewing contractor deliverables, and mentoring junior staff while ensuring compliance with international codes.
Key responsibilities
- Develop civil designs for earthwork, grading, roads, paving and drainage.
- Review and verify contractor design deliverables for compliance and quality.
- Ensure alignment of civil design with other engineering disciplines.
- Prepare design calculations, Basis of Design documents, specifications and standards.
- Support FEED and detailed design activities for greenfield and brownfield projects.
- Prepare scopes of work for geotechnical, topographical and underground scanning surveys.
- Review vendor drawings and perform material take‑offs.
- Participate in 3D model reviews using Navisworks or SPR.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of civil engineering experience in petrochemical, fertilizer, refining, oil or gas industries.
- 5‑7 years of experience with a recognized international FEED or EPC contractor.
- Experience in both FEED and detailed design for greenfield and brownfield projects.
- Site or construction experience is an advantage.
- Authorization to work in the country where the position is located.
Required skills
- Knowledge of international design codes such as AASHTO, ACI, API, ASTM, AWWA, NFPA and PIP.
- Earthwork design, rough grading and finish grading.
- Roads and paving geometric design.
- Site development, fencing and gate layout.
- Familiarity with local codes HCIS and RCStormwater.
- Stormwater, sanitary sewer, firewater and contaminated drainage design.
- Hydraulic design for evaporation ponds and first‑flush ponds.
- Proficiency with CivilStorm, SewerGEMS, Civil 3D and OpenRoads.
- Ability to use Navisworks and SPR for 3D model review.
- Vendor drawing review and material take‑off preparation.
