Automotive Technician

About the role

Al-Futtaim Automotive, a division of the Al-Futtaim Group and regional representative of brands such as Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, Volvo and RAM, is hiring a Technician for its BYD dealership in Saudi Arabia. The Technician diagnoses, repairs and services customer vehicles to OEM specifications within standard labour times and to first-time-right quality, driving workshop productivity, customer satisfaction and aftersales profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance, mechanical repairs and diagnostics on customer vehicles according to OEM standards and dealership processes
• Complete Repair Orders within standard labour times while maintaining high quality and efficiency
• Carry out inspections during servicing, report additional repair requirements to the Service Advisor and ensure work meets manufacturer specifications
• Use OEM diagnostic tools and scan systems to find the root cause of faults, perform road tests and final quality checks, and complete technical check sheets, inspection reports and job logs
• Support the reduction of repeat repairs and customer comebacks through strong first-time-right execution
• Use special service tools, lifting equipment and workshop machinery safely, report damaged tools or equipment faults, and keep the workstation clean and organised under 5S standards
• Follow PPE, lifting, chemical handling and HSE protocols
• Complete OEM technical training and certification, stay up to date on TSBs, recalls, software updates and new model procedures, and share technical knowledge with peers and supervisors

Required profile

• Automotive diploma, vocational certificate or equivalent technical qualification
• OEM technical certification is highly desirable
• Minimum 2-5 years of hands-on workshop experience in a franchised automotive dealership

Required skills

• Strong mechanical knowledge of engine, transmission, suspension, steering, braking and electrical systems
• Proficiency with OEM diagnostic platforms, scan tools and electronic troubleshooting
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, workshop manuals and repair documentation
• Basic computer literacy for DMS usage and digital inspection reporting
• Familiarity with hybrid and EV systems is a strong advantage
