Butcher Assistant

About the role

The Butcher Assistant works closely with the butcher and kitchen team to ensure meat, poultry, and related products are prepared, stored, and organized safely and efficiently. This position plays a key part in maintaining high standards of hygiene, quality, and food safety in a fast‑paced kitchen environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the butcher with preparation, cutting, trimming, and portioning of meat and poultry under supervision.
• Wash, clean, label, date, and store products according to safety and quality guidelines.
• Maintain proper stock rotation using FIFO procedures and minimize product waste.
• Keep the butchery area, equipment, knives, and work surfaces clean and sanitized.
• Support the kitchen during busy periods and help receive and store deliveries when needed.
• Dispose of waste correctly and ensure a tidy working environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a butchery, restaurant, hotel, catering, or food‑production setting is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of meat and poultry handling and food‑safety standards.
• Ability to follow instructions, work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment, and lift moderate weights.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
