Capital Manager

About the role

The Capital Manager will act as the subject‑matter expert on capital returns for the Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) division, guiding relationship managers on capital‑efficient lending structures and driving initiatives that optimise risk‑weighted assets (RWA) and capital velocity.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expertise on RWA, RoRWA, RoTE, density and velocity calculations, identifying trends and improvement opportunities.
• Raise awareness of capital consumption among CIB relationship managers and advise on alternative lending structures.
• Lead capital‑efficiency projects to release RWAs, improve RoRWA, lower density and increase capital velocity, including data management and capital reallocation.
• Own the CIB Loan Pricing Policy, ensuring commercial alignment and compliance with set boundaries.
• Maintain the Omnia Returns Calculator, coordinating with Finance to align calculations with SAB’s reporting methodology.
• Act as final approver for loan pricing in the Omnia Returns Calculator and advise senior management on pricing comparables.
• Advise senior leaders on portfolio‑level yields, margin trends, and spread leakage across sectors, currencies and tenors.
• Ensure robust operational controls for loan margins and accurate data input.
• Identify low‑returning clients and collaborate with coverage teams to enhance profitability.
• Take responsibility for CIB returns as a direct KPI.

Required profile

• Proven experience in capital management, loan pricing and credit limits.
• Strong knowledge of weighted assets, Basel regulations, RAROC and capital optimisation.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
