Chairman of Surgery Department

About the role

The Chairman of the Surgery Department will provide visionary leadership, aligning the department with the hospital’s overall mission and strategic goals while maintaining a high standard of clinical care.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Surgery Department in line with the hospital’s vision, mission, goals and objectives.
• Oversee all administrative activities of the department, including budgeting, staffing and policy implementation.
• Provide clinical services as a senior consultant surgeon.
• Develop and implement strategic plans to improve surgical care quality and efficiency.
• Foster research initiatives and ensure publication of peer‑reviewed articles.
• Represent the department in hospital executive committees and external professional bodies.

Required profile

• Medical degree from an accredited school and board certification in a surgical specialty, with fellowship status in the United Kingdom, Canada or an equivalent jurisdiction.
• Minimum ten (10) years of independent clinical experience post‑training.
• At least five (5) years in a senior administrative role such as Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Head of Section or Head of Medical Service.
• Authorship of at least ten original peer‑reviewed research papers.
• Academic appointment or teaching experience at a reputable university is preferred.
