Civil Engineer - Design

About the role

In this role you will conduct design coordination and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for civil/structural aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil/structural components and processes. Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of the project’s civil/structural aspects are met.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of civil/structural engineering work, reviewing original designs, layouts, details, drawings and specifications for structures, buildings, and roadways.
• Participate in the design, development and modification of civil/structural components using Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and the Design Control Check List (DCCL).
• Coordinate work and collaborate with other engineering disciplines, evaluating and applying standard civil/structural engineering methods, techniques, and criteria.
• Review structural engineering deliverables such as steel and concrete calculations and specifications.
• Analyze problems with conflicting design requirements, sketch ideas and propose possible solutions.
• Assist in the preparation of quantity take‑offs for proposals, forecasts, and change orders.
• Prepare or assist in conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals and provide technical assistance to other civil/structural personnel.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 5–8 years of experience delivering large urban infrastructure or civil engineering projects, including public realm works.
• Experience working in Saudi Arabia, the Middle East or GCC.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English; Arabic is a plus.
