Costing Accountant

About the role

The Costing Accountant will manage manufacturing cost accounting, inventory valuation and cost analysis to ensure accurate financial reporting and effective cost control within a production environment.

Key responsibilities

• Record, review and validate cost transactions for materials, labor, overheads, scrap, rework and production orders.
• Support product costing activities including standard cost maintenance, bill‑of‑materials (BOM) costing, routing cost validation and cost roll‑up.
• Monitor cost allocation to production orders, cost centres and manufacturing activities and assist with monthly cost closing.
• Validate inventory movements, perform material consumption analysis, reconcile system records with physical stock and investigate variances.
• Analyse material, labour, overhead and scrap variances; prepare variance reports by product, line, cost centre and highlight unusual cost movements.
• Prepare regular manufacturing performance reports, cost bridges, trend analysis and KPI dashboards for management review.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing by validating production order settlements, inventory postings and related accruals.
• Ensure compliance with costing policies, internal controls and audit requirements, maintaining documentation for cost calculations and reconciliations.

Required profile

• Degree or professional qualification in accounting, finance or related field.
• Experience in manufacturing cost accounting or cost analysis.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to interpret variance data.
• Excellent communication skills to coordinate with production, planning, warehouse and engineering teams.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under tight reporting deadlines.
