About the role
Excis is seeking an experienced Database Team Lead to provide technical leadership and administration of enterprise‑critical Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments in Saudi Arabia. The role combines hands‑on database engineering with team mentorship, incident escalation and strategic planning.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and oversee enterprise Oracle and SQL Server environments.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to database administrators.
- Establish database administration standards and best practices.
- Review configurations, changes, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
- Act as senior escalation point for complex database issues.
- Administer Oracle 11g, 12c, 19c, and 21c, including RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and replication.
- Lead Oracle installations, upgrades, patching, migrations, and troubleshooting.
- Support Oracle performance, availability, high‑availability and disaster‑recovery requirements.
- Administer enterprise Microsoft SQL Server environments, managing Always On Availability Groups, clustering and replication.
- Lead SQL Server upgrades, patching, migrations and troubleshooting.
- Support SQL Server performance, high‑availability and disaster‑recovery requirements.
- Lead performance monitoring, advanced query tuning and capacity planning.
- Manage Oracle RMAN and SQL Server backup/recovery, validate backup integrity.
- Support disaster‑recovery testing and recovery exercises.
- Implement database security, access controls, encryption and auditing.
- Support databases hosted in Azure, AWS and OCI.
- Develop automation using SQL, PL/SQL, T‑SQL and scripting.
- Lead resolution of P1/P2 incidents, conduct root‑cause analysis and coordinate technical teams and vendors.
- Lead upgrades, migrations, patching, technology refreshes and ensure change‑management compliance.
- Maintain database architecture and configuration documentation.
Required profile
- Proven experience leading database teams in large‑scale environments.
- Strong hands‑on expertise with Oracle (RAC, ASM, Data Guard) and Microsoft SQL Server (Always On, clustering).
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex performance, availability and disaster‑recovery issues.
- Experience with capacity planning, backup/recovery and security implementation.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, OCI) and database automation.
