DC Facility Monitoring Specialist

About the role

The DC Facility Monitoring Specialist ensures the data centre operates within safe environmental and power parameters. This role monitors electrical, cooling and security systems, responding quickly to alerts to minimise downtime and protect critical equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor temperature, humidity and airflow to keep conditions within safe ranges.
• Supervise power distribution, UPS units, PDUs, generators and circuits for continuous power.
• Oversee physical security systems including access control, CCTV and intrusion detection.
• Track fire detection and suppression systems, ensuring early warning and proper response.
• Coordinate maintenance activities for HVAC, electrical infrastructure and cooling equipment.
• Respond to facility alerts, troubleshoot issues and work with electrical, mechanical and IT teams.
• Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, inspections, incidents and performance data.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and data centre operational standards.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, IT or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in data centre facility operations, electrical systems, HVAC or similar technical environments.

Required skills

• Power distribution systems, UPS units and generators.
• HVAC systems for data centre cooling.
• Fire detection and suppression systems (FM‑200, smoke sensors).
• Physical security controls such as access control, CCTV and intrusion detection.
• Environmental monitoring of temperature, humidity and airflow.
• Electrical safety protocols and incident documentation.
